Philadelphia Flyers Dealing With More Injuries
The Philadelphia Flyers received a piece of unwelcome news before their weekend game.
The Philadelphia Flyers have 19 games left. That is 19 games that will make the Flyers reconsider and shape their priorities as to how to make the playoff race. They’re currently five points back and they’ll need to play at their current level if they’re to make the postseason. It had seemed that March might be their month and that they were only a mere point away from being in a playoff spot. Yet it was a 4-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers that put their quest to a stop. The Flyers were on a three-game winning streak and having it snapped by the Oilers wasn’t the ideal situation. The team is now back on their mission to earn a ticket to the postseason and make sure that their key players are healthy. However, an unexpected injury might not be the news the Flyers wanted to hear. Find out the depth of the injury and what the Flyers can do about their playoff hopes in Friday’s edition of Buzz on the Street.

Philadelphia Flyers’ forward Brayden Schenn Injured
Sam Carchidi for Philadelphia Inquirer
Forward Brayden Schenn, the Flyers’ top offensive player recently, may miss Saturday’s game against Columbus with a head injury. Schenn, who has 12 goals in the last 22 games, was injured in Thursday’s 4-0 loss to visiting Edmonton. General manager Ron Hextall, through a team spokesman, said Friday the Flyers were still gathering information on Schenn’s injury and that they would have an announcement Saturday. In the third period of Thursday’s game, Oilers defenseman Adam Pardy put a bear hug on Schenn during a scrum and tackled him to the ice. Schenn’s head hit the ice with Pardy atop him with 12 minutes, 44 seconds left.
Philadelphia Flyers Get Shut Out By Edmonton Oilers
Sam Carchidi for Philadelphia Inquirer
The Flyers continued to make lowly Edmonton look like the Gretzky-era Oilers on Thursday night at the boo-happy Wells Fargo Center. Cam Talbot recorded his second shutout of the season as the Oilers jolted the Flyers, 4-0, and ended their three-game winning streak. Coupled with Pittsburgh’s win over the Rangers, the Flyers fell five points behind the Penguins. Talbot made 35 saves, and the Oilers killed all seven Flyers power plays. “We didn’t show up from the start of the game,” right winger Wayne Simmonds said. “I didn’t think we played horrible, but it wasn’t our best game.”Live Feed class=inline-text id=inline-text-10

Flyers Goalie Steve Mason Ready for No.1 Job
Dave Issac for Courier Post
There was never going to be a moment where Steve Mason rooted for Michal Neuvirth to fail just so he could get the net back for the Flyers. The goalie sat patiently and has been waiting for his opportunity after Neuvirth started the last five games for the Flyers and played in each of the last seven. “A lot of stuff goes through your mind but you try and just keep a positive mindset, work hard and bide your time,” Mason said after an optional practice Friday in which he was the only goalie.
