Two Flyers players are rated in NHL 17’s top 50.

The launch of NHL 17 is not far away, which means player ratings are starting to be released. EA Sports, the makers of NHL 17, released the top 50 players in this year’s installment of the hockey simulation and Philadelphia Flyers fans should be happy to know that Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek are both rated in that group.

Voracek is NHL 17’s 44th highest rated player with a 90 overall rating while Giroux is 30th with a 91 overall rating.

90 overall is a fair rating for Voracek, especially after a down season where he only found twine 11 times.

Giroux, however, is rated way too low. No player in the NHL has recorded more points over the last six seasons than Giroux. Not even Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin or Patrick Kane.

At one point, Giroux was considered among the best hockey players in the world. But over the last two season’s Giroux’s numbers have seen a slight decline. In 2014-15, Giroux recorded 73 points and surprisingly failed to reach the 70-point mark in 2015-16 (although he did miss several games due to injury).

Nonetheless, Giroux is hugely underrated in NHL 17 and it is an absolute crime that he isn’t rated in the top 20 (or even top 10).
