The Philadelphia Flyers  won their fourth straight game amid chaos against the New Jersey Devils.

It was a scary scene in Philadelphia as Michal Neuvirth collapsed untouched in goal  at the 7:37 mark of the first period. Neuvirth was replaced by goalie Anthony Stolarz, who was called up earlier in the day for the sick Steve Mason.

Apart from Michal Neuvirth’s scary moment, the Flyers had an impressive first period, taking a 2-0 lead into the locker room. Brayden Schenn got things going by putting home  a Shayne Gostisbehere blast with the man advantage. Shortly after the scare, the newly called up Lehigh Valley captain, Colin McDonald, gave the orange and black a two goal advantage. McDonald was recalled for the injured Matt Read.

New Jersey rookie Matt Coleman, in the dying minutes, pushed Couturier into Devils’ goalie Schneider. The Philadelphia Flyers gained a power play with 1.6 seconds left in the first as the result of that play.

The Flyers were unable to score on their early second period power play. At 7:59 there was more chaos  as Dalton Prout went for a high hit on Radko Gudas. Wayne Simmonds responded by taking on Prout, who was given 5 for fighting, 5 for instigation, and a game misconduct. The Flyers got 5-min PP. The Power play was short lived as Dale Weise got  5 minutes for interference and a game misconduct. Travis Zajac, who took exception to Weise hit, got two minutes for retaliation.

The red hot Jordan Weal scored his 7th goal in  13 games. His fourth in consecutive games, the goal gave his club a 3-0 lead.

There were more  fireworks  in the third, as Simmonds and Wood each got 10 minute misconducts, plus a roughing call after Wood hit rookie goaltender Anthony Stolarz.

Philadelphia held on to a 3-0 lead after the scare in the first period. Rookie goalie Anthony Stolarz gained a shared shutout by making 32 saves.

"“Flyers tried to put Semborski into game with 24.5 secs left. Refs didn’t allow. Not emergency situation”. Sam Carchidi"

Will Stolarz start today, will Gudas be back after leaving the game with injury could Dale Weise be suspended?

Michal Neuvirth was taken to Pennsylvania Hospital. Our thoughts are with Michal Neuvirth as he recovers.
