The Philadelphia Flyers mascot is up to his old tricks in the team’s matchup against the Detroit Red Wings.
Gritty has been known for his humorous antics since debuting back in September of this year. From shooting an arena employee with a t-shirt cannon to raining down from the rafters of the Wells Fargo Center, it’s clear Gritty will go all out to get a laugh from the fans. This was all too evident during the first intermission of the Philadelphia Flyers game against the Detroit Red Wings.
The furry, orange mascot dressed up as Santa Clause and went around body checking all of the others who were skating on the ice. Gritty knew no bounds, egging all of the other Santas on before absolutely decking them moments later. He really has a mean streak to his attitude and shows no mercy to whoever opposes him.
In all seriousness, I personally love the addition of Gritty to the franchise. The amount of noteworthy humor that has been brought since his arrival is awesome to see as a fan. Gritty can also be a good distraction from the struggling on-ice product. I get not everyone is a fan, but mascots are supposed to be outrageous and Gritty certainly fits the bill in that category.
Gritty will never seize in putting on a show. It’s crazy to think he’s only been with the team for just under three months. I can’t wait to see what’s in store because I’m sure it’ll once again bring laughs from fans and people nationwide.
Santa Clauses everywhere should beware of Gritty’s wrath. There is an obvious amount of grit in his DNA and shows no signs of backing down from those he doesn’t like. Gritty’s legacy is just getting started and will only grow as time goes on.
