The 2012 second round draft pick is now the third Philadelphia Flyers goaltender to put the lovable mascot on his mask this season.

Standing on his head in his last start for the Philadelphia Flyers with a 38 save, shutout performance, goaltender Anthony Stolarz has now continued to cement his legacy by being the third net-minder this season to put Gritty on his mask.

If you don’t recall, former Flyers goalie Calvin Pickard was the first to do so, putting the orange mascot on one side of his protective helmet. He was then followed up by Mike McKenna, who had Gritty on the back of his mask with a little halo on top of his head. McKenna also had him sign it, and absolutely loved every single part of his time with Grittiest of them all.

Now, Stolarz has collaborated with the designer David Gunnarsson, or DaveArt on Instagram, to make the most beautiful Gritty themed helmet yet, in my opinion at the very least. The well-know mask maker, who named it “The Wrath of Gritty”, used a variety of FX, 3D paint, invisible wiz tech, and more to make it look like the big mascot is coming out of the front of the mask. I really like all of the accents around it, too, as they really help Gritty stand out.

I think this a tremendous idea on Stolarz’ part, as well. How are opposing players supposed to score goals when they see Gritty literally popping out of the 6’6 goaltenders’ head gear?! It’s safe to assume Stolie the Goalie will never allow another goal again and will go down as the greatest goaltender in NHL history all because of his gorgeous Gritty mask.

We’ll have to a bit see Stolarz’ new mask in game action with Carter Hart receiving the start in Thursday’s game vs the Boston Bruins. It’s possible we see it on Saturday and I personally can’t wait to see it live.
