The Philadelphia Flyers have officially handed out jersey numbers to some their new acquisitions along with some other players on the roster.

Just over a month after General Manager Chuck Fletcher acquired some of these new talents, the Philadelphia Flyers have finally handed out some new jersey numbers. Matt Niskanen, Justin Braun, and Tyler Pitlick were all brought to the city of Philadelphia via trade this offseason, so if you’re looking to buy one of their jersey’s in the near future, you can now do so without worry of a spontaneous number change.

Niskanen, who the Washington Capitals traded in exchange for Radko Gudas, will wear number 15 this upcoming season. The 12-year veteran defenseman previously wore the number two during his time with the Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins and five with the Dallas Stars. Braun will sport the same number of 61 that he wore throughout his nine-year tenure with the San Jose Sharks while Pitlick received number 18, which he wore with the Stars after donning 15 and 68 with the Edmonton Oilers.

With Braun getting 61, defenseman Philippe Myers will switch over to 5, and fellow blue-liner Samuel Morin obtained 55, last worn by former NHL defenseman and current Flyers player development coach Nick Schultz. Myers and Morin should be very popular purchases in the future if they develop into the type of players that they’re expected to become. For years, fans of the Orange and Black have loved seeing a physical presence like Morin on the ice and Myers has been known as one of the Flyers top prospects in their system. Myers is projected to be on the third defensive pair while Morin, hopefully, can earn more ice time during the 2019-20 season.

Braun and Niskanen will likely play key roles on the Flyers blue-line in the coming year while Pitlick fights for a fourth-line spot out of camp.
