The Philadelphia Flyers forward earned a respectable time during the Fastest Skater event at the 2020 NHL All-Star Skills competition.

Kicking off the 2020 NHL All-Star weekend at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, the Skills competition took place on Friday night with the 44 All-Star players taking part in several different events to vie for the illustrious reward of $30,000 and bragging rights over their fellow peers. As most Philadelphia Flyers fans know, Travis Konecny was one of eight players to take part in the Fastest Skater contest, which got the ball rolling as the night’s first skills challenge, and had himself a solid performance during the skating showcase.

TK completed the competition with a time of 14.1 seconds, finishing in seventh place ahead of just Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes, who posted a time of 14.2. New York Islanders centerman Mathew Barzal was able to dethrone Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid as the champion of the event, beating the three-time winner with a lightning-quick time of 13.1 seconds.   McDavid was second with a time of 13.2, and New York Rangers winger Chris Kreider rounded out the Top Three by skating the rink within 13.5 ticks. While it’s slightly disappointing that Konecny ranked towards the bottom of the contest, I would like to say that he tried his best and is still number one in all of our hearts. He also didn’t finish last, which was something he said he was shooting for coming into the event tonight, so that’s a plus.

All in all, it was fun to watch somebody not named Claude Giroux representing the Orange and Black on a national level. I’m excited to watch TK compete with the Metropolitan Division at the All-Star Game on Saturday and hopefully, he’ll help lead the squad to *Dr. Evil voice* one million dollars.
