The Philadelphia Flyers forward had a solid debut at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game.

After finishing in seventh place in the Fastest Skater event at the Skills competition to kick off All-Star weekend on Friday night, Philadelphia Flyers winger Travis Konecny skated alongside other Metropolitan Division talent in a quest to earn one million dollars at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game. The Metro, which was Captained by Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang, got everything going by facing off with the Atlantic Division in a battle for Eastern Conference exhibition supremacy.

Though he couldn’t get his side the W, as the Metropolitan lost to the Atlantic by a score of 9-5, TK was apart of their most effective line offensively. Head Coach Todd Reirden decided to put Konecny on the second line alongside New Jersey Devils centerman Nico Hischier and Columbus. Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones and it paid off in spades. The trio combined for a whopping ten points, far and away leading all other Metro lines on the night. Konecny specifically had a three-assist performance, highlighted by a tremendous passing display with Hischier on a 2-on-1 rush that resulted in the Metropolitan’s fifth tally of the night. Konecny and Hischier also tied for the lead among Metro forwards in scoring while Jones led everyone with four.

It was a little unfortunate that their successes couldn’t result in a victory for the Metro, but still, it was nice to see TK perform well on a national level in his first All-Star appearance. I can say with a doubt in my mind that Konecny will be back for another All-Star game at some point in the future, especially if he continues to expand on this breakout 2019-20 season.
