Everything you need to know ahead of the Philadelphia Flyers matchup with the Colorado Avalanche this evening.

Following a 4-3 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins in their last contest, the Philadelphia Flyers will head home and play host to the Colorado Avalanche in the second half of a back-to-back. Colorado was able to take the first meeting between these two squads earlier this year, defeating the Flyers by a score of 3-1 back in December. Philadelphia will hope to avoid being swept by the Avs for the second straight season and get their first W over the Central Division squad since March of 2018.

One way they can do so is by playing a steady two-way game given how good the Avalanche have been in both zones this year. Colorado’s sits fifth in total Goals For with 179 in 49 games played so far while allowing the tied-eighth least amount of Goals Against in the league, as well. Additionally, they have some of the highest Goals and Scoring Chances For percentages, ranking first and seventh in both categories among all NHL teams, per Natural Stat Trick. Those numbers are pretty darn impressive, making it essential for Philadelphia to bring their A-game this evening, which hasn’t been an issue for them at the Wells Fargo Center in 2019-20.

Avalanche/Flyers Betting Odds

According to the Action Network, the Flyers were a +135 on the MoneyLine as of this morning while the Avalanche were the favorite at -145. This is likely due to how great Colorado was heading into their All-Star Break, as they won their previous three games before the bye-week.
