The Philadelphia Flyers will meet the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Nationwide Arena in the final half of a home-and-home series.

Following a 5-1 victory over their fellow Metropolitan division club in their last contest, the Philadelphia Flyers will hope to earn another two points as they hit the road to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. This will mark the fourth and last meeting between the Metropolitan Division clubs this year, with the Flyers taking the previous three by a combined score of 15-7. Philadelphia will look to sweep Columbus for the first time since 2011-12.

As you may or may not know, this is a pretty crucial next pair of games for the Flyers. Philly’s just a single point ahead of the Blue Jackets, New York Islanders, and Carolina Hurricanes coming into the night. I don’t need to tell you how big it’d for the Orange and Black to pick up four points, and 12 in total, against a team that’s within a finger’s reach of them in the standings. Taking care of Columbus now could benefit Philadelphia down the road in March when things get really tight in the race for the playoffs, making it essential for the Flyers to get the W in regulation on road-ice at the end of the evening.

Starting between the pipes for the Fly Guys tonight is projected to be Brian Elliott. The journeyman netminder will try to bounce back from a losing effort against the New York Islanders in his previous start, as he allowed four goals on 24 shots.
