The Philadelphia Flyers are making the case as best in the east.

The Philadelphia Flyers are in a full send for the playoffs. After last night’s defeat of the Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia is at a season best nine game winning streak. The recent success has pulled them even with the Washington Capitals in first place of the Metro division.

This is quite a feat for a team that didn’t have a winning record going into December. The season started slow for the Philadelphia Flyers, but the new year has brought a change in luck. Looking back to February, it is plain to see that the turnaround started well before this nine-game run.

Since February, the Flyers have only lost three games while posting a record of 14-3-0. The initial push elevated them back into the playoff race, but now, their hot streak has them chasing down the conference leaders.

As the Flyers climb up the standings continues, Money Puck’s predictive analytics tag Philadelphia as the favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Vegas isn’t exactly on board with this prediction; however, it is nice to see some recognition for the Flyers on this massive attack they are making on the NHL.

The oddsmakers have a point regarding the Flyers. This run is fantastic, but which team will we see for the rest of the season? The beginning of the year was ugly, and this is largely the same group of guys. Are we just seeing an extended hot streak that is heading to its inevitable cool down? Let’s just hope that cools down from the boil but stays on to simmer.

The playoffs are now a near certainty for the Flyers. If their play continues, they will propel themselves near the top of the Eastern Conference; however, the Boston Bruins will be difficult to track down. Philadelphia and Boston faceoff against each other on Tuesday in what may be a preview game for the Eastern Conference championship. So far, Philadelphia is 2-0-0 against the Bruins. Let’s go get number ten in a row!
