Kevin Hayes has a lot of nicknames for his Flyers teammates. We went ahead and analyzed some of them.

Since coming to the Flyers, Kevin Hayes has quickly become a fan favorite. His tunnel talk is a big part of what has made him so beloved. His nicknames have almost become like a routine when the team comes onto the ice. We decided to take at some of the nicknames and go more in-depth than we probably should.

The list of nicknames we looked at is 11 of Hayes’ teammates. We went ahead and eliminated some of the more basic ones. Those include Claude Giroux‘s simple “G” and Brian Elliott‘s “Moose” as these are nicknames that are well known. We wanted to go for more of the unique ones on the team.

So here’s a look at 11 of our favorite Hayes’ nicknames

Young Beezer in the cut- Joel Farabee

We have often heard Joel Farabee refer to himself as something like “Young Beezer” and say he has an album dropping soon. In fact, we heard just that in the Flyers’ recent mic’d up featuring Travis Konecny. You could fast-forward to about 1:30 to hear it, but you’re better off listening to the entire thing. So Hayes has clearly been listening and is ready for the album to drop as well.

Mysie, you leaf eater- Phil Myers

As everyone knows, Phil Myers is very tall. According to the Flyers website, he stands at 6′ 5″. And Hayes is well aware of that and seems to have cracked himself up at figuring out that Myers looks like a giraffe.

Now you’re gonna get it Bobby- Robert Hagg

It seems as if a lot of Robert Hagg’s teammates refer to him as Bobby or Bobby Hagg. Hayes took it one step farther and used a pretty famous line from Happy Gilmore. The line comes as Happy is paired up with Bob Barker for a tournament. Let’s just say it doesn’t go well.

Rubik’s Kube- Nicolas Aube-Kubel

This one is pretty easy to figure out so we won’t spend too much time analyzing it. Aube-Kubel’s last name is close enough to the word cube. So Hayes’ once again took it one step further to call him Rubik’s Kube, with a K of course. The Flyers have also used this nickname, though, so we can’t say for sure who had it first.

Steadzo Glensky- Matt Niskanen

This is one of our favorite nicknames simply because we aren’t quite sure what it means or where it came from. What we can say is it clearly refers to how steady Matt Niskanen is. That’s where the often used “Steady Eddie” nickname comes from. But it seems that Hayes has evolved with this one.

And in case you needed to hear the nickname in action, we’ve got you covered.

Ghost Malone- Shayne Gostisbehere

This one is fairly obvious. Shayne Gostisbehere is typically referred to as “Ghost” but Hayes, per usual, has added on to that.

Tiki Bar- Travis Konecny

We have no explanation for this one simply because even Hayes himself has no idea why he uses this nickname for Travis Konecny.

The Goblin- James van Riemsdyk

This has always seemed to be James van Riemsdyk’s nickname. And we’re going to take a wild guess here and say it refers to the bright green mouthguard that JVR has used during his career.

Cahtah Haht- Carter Hart

And now to the most famous one of all. While this is technically just Carter Hart’s name, hearing it in Hayes’ Boston accent somehow makes it sound better. And now Alain Vigneault uses it as well which makes it even better.
