Philadelphia Flyers: Scott Hartnell shares stories from his time in Philadelphia
Scott Hartnell played with the Philadelphia Flyers for seven seasons. So he has been through plenty with the team over those years.
Scott Hartnell is now an analyst for the league, but he still has time to give us the dirt on what it was like playing with the Flyers during his time in Philadelphia. Joining the Flyers Talk Podcast with Katie Emmer and Jordan Hall, Hartnell dove into many topics about the team.
Before he went into detail about Claude Giroux, he did briefly discuss the current Flyers team. From a hockey perspective, he sees them as a team that has bought in up and down the lineup. And as many people feel, he believes Kevin Hayes has been a great addition to the team. Travis Konecny got a mention as well as a personality that every team needs to have.
Going into Giroux, Hartnell didn’t hesitate to throw a small jab his way during the podcast.
“It’s cool to see him kind of go from a punk little kid to a father and being a good leader for everyone in that dressing room — and for the city of Philadelphia, people look up to him.”
And if you needed another reason to love him, the two recently talked and Hartnell could see just how much Gavin, Giroux’s son, means to him.
The two had their fun together when Hartnell came back in 2018 for his retirement ceremony. With his son in tow, the two snuck into Giroux’s post-game interview to ask a question of their own. And the look on their faces says everything.
It wouldn’t be a chat with Hartnell if Gritty wasn’t mentioned. As most of us are, he’s tuning into every episode of Gritty’s 1/4 Hour of Power. And he even joined the Instagram Live on Thursday afternoon.
Hartnell spoke on various other topics including re-living the 2010 cup run, the rivalry with Pittsburgh, and his life after hockey.
One thing mentioned was that he believes this team was one of the best to take the ice in quite some time. Did they have what it takes to go all the way? From up and down the lineup, he sure believes so. Hopefully, we will soon get the chance to see if that is true.
