We officially have a date for when the Flyers can begin holding a formal training camp.

The NHL recently began Phase 2 of its plan to resume the season. Teams have been allowed to hold informal workouts since June 8th. We now know when the Flyers will be able to practice as a full team.

After coming to an agreement, the NHL and NHLPA formally announced the beginning date for training camps. Beginning June 10th, teams will be able to begin training for the 24-team playoffs.

That will be Phase 3 of the four-phase plan. The last phase would be officially resuming hockey. That is expected to take place around the beginning of August. However, no date has been set.

Teams will likely need at least two weeks to get up to speed before the playoffs. While it is unknown who has made their way to Voorhees, the belief is that Sean Couturier, Ivan Provorov, Shayne Gostisbehere and Mark Friedman are among the players who have taken advantage.

With an official date in place, many players may begin to make their way to their respective home cities in the near future. We are just under a month until Phase 3 will begin.

All of this will be subject to medical and safety conditions of course. But this is another big hurdle for the league to cross.

By the time training camp is to open, the Flyers will have a fully healthy team. Aside from Oskar Lindblom and likely Nolan Patrick. That will force the team to make some roster decisions.

We spoke on some of the decisions the team will have to make. It includes deciding if Joel Farabee is to remain in the lineup. And if Robert Hagg or Gostisbehere will be playing.

The team will also be able to hold extra skaters in its lineup. The number for that appears to be holding firm at 28 players. Morgan Frost and Alex Lyon will certainly be some of the players tagging along for the playoffs. There are other candidates the Flyers have to choose from as well.

It won’t be long before we see the Flyers back on the ice. And while we won’t be seeing them in Philadelphia for the playoffs, we will certainly be cheering them on from afar.
