Claude Giroux has a chance to climb higher on the Flyers all-time postseason points list.

Claude Giroux currently ranks ninth on the Flyers all-time postseason points list. His 65 points have him behind players such as Reggie Leach, Tim Kerr, and Daniel Briere. A successful postseason run could see him climb as high as fifth place on this list.

John LeClair, currently ranked fifth, has 74 career postseason points. He earned that mark in 116 postseason games. With Giroux currently at 65, a long playoff run could see him easily take over that spot. Nine points isn’t a large jump for him to make.

Giroux has reached a higher mark than that three times during the playoffs. The last time he did it was during the 2012 playoffs. Since then, the Flyers haven’t made it out of the first round.

That will be a big key to Giroux jumping up on this list. Even in a seven game series, the most points he has accumulated has been six. That was during the 2014 playoffs. He has cooled off considerably during the last two postseasons.

Giroux had one point in six games in 2016 and three points in six games during 2018. So he will need to find his postseason mojo once again if he wants to climb up that list.

That certainly isn’t the first thing on his mind. Any kind of long playoff run would mean that the Flyers are close to becoming a true contender in the league. And coming off a disappointing season last year, that would be a huge step in the right direction.

But it would continue to cement Giroux’s Flyers legacy. He is already considered one of the best to lace up the skates for the team. This honor would prove that case even more.

And if Giroux is performing in the playoffs, that likely means the team is looking good as well. When he is playing well, the team usually follows along.
