Along with Connor Bunnaman, Carsen Twarynski will be joining the Flyers expanded roster for the playoffs

As training camp approaches, we will begin to get a clearer picture of who the Flyers will bring into the playoffs. The 30 players in camp will come down to 28 once the playoffs begin. We already know a few players that will be along for the ride.

Alex Lyon will be the third goaltender. Morgan Frost was told to stay ready. And we recently found out Connor Bunnaman would be tagging along. We now have another name to add to the list.

Another long shot to make the team out of camp, Carsen Twarynski surprised everyone when his name was finalized on the opening night roster. Like Bunnaman, it was a short stint to begin the season. He saw action in six NHL games.

His best of that stretch came during the Flyers’ third game of the season. Twarynski scored his first NHL goal in the game and had almost 11 minutes of ice time for the third game in a row.

He was also back in the NHL for a stretch in November and one game in December. That final game saw him skate almost 14 minutes, a career high in the league. Overall, he appeared in 15 NHL games. That goal was his only point thus far.

Twarynski has been skating on the Voorhees ice for about a month now. He was excited to get the call and join the team for the final run. It’s a once in a life time experience, even with the different circumstances surrounding it.

"“I think it’s kind of cool in a way; a once-in-a-lifetime thing. The games will be a lot different, obviously, with a lot different atmosphere and different scenery and how the [round-robin] setup is. But, you know, I’m looking forward to it. I think it will be a cool experience, as nice it would be to have a normal playoffs.”"

Like Bunnaman, Twarynski will be extra insurance in case the Flyers run into injury troubles during the playoffs. But again, experiencing even just the atmosphere will be a big advantage for a young player.

And with the circumstances surrounding the playoffs this season, you never know what could happen. The Flyers will expect Twarynski to be ready if his name is called.
