There were plenty of up and downs as the Flyers took to the ice for their second set of training camp scrimmages.

After an off-day on Monday, the Flyers were back on the ice for another set of scrimmages. It was their second time splitting off into two separate teams.

The lineups were similar to that of what the team practiced with on Sunday. It featured a trio of Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, and Jakub Voracek. It’s clearly a line the team has confidence in. And it is a line that has proven its dominance time and time again.

But there are some other players that have had impressing showings as well during camp. Kevin Hayes is one of them as he led the way with a hat trick during Tuesday’s scrimmage.

Playing primarily with Travis Konecny thus far during camp, the two make an intriguing pairing and could cause trouble for opponents if they stick together.

Hayes is an excellent puck-handler and has the ability to shield the puck away from opponents with ease. Konecny adds in his own playmaking skill and speed that causes nightmares for opponents. The two are quite dangerous together.

On the flip side of things, Carter Hart is clearly an important piece for the Flyers going forward. Which makes the news out of training camp a tough pill to swallow.

Hart left the team’s scrimmage during the first period. He never returned after that. There was no word on what happened or why he left the ice.

And with the rules surrounding potential injuries during Phase 3 and 4, the Flyers can only acknowledge that Hart left the ice. He was set to speak with the media after practice, but would not do so.

Everyone around Hart felt as if it was nothing serious, including Hayes.

There are still a few more practices before the team heads to Toronto. And the playoffs themselves don’t begin until August. So if Hart is to miss any kind of time, it’s somewhat better for it to happen now.

Teams are allowed an unlimited number of goaltenders as the Flyers currently have four in camp. It’s likely all of them will be coming to Toronto, especially if Hart is banged up in any significant way.

We will have to wait until the Flyers step on the ice again to see Hart’s next move.
