The Flyers have come a long way since Dave Scott took over. And he likes the direction they’re headed in.

Dave Scott is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Comcast Spectacor. He is essentially responsible for the growth of many entities the company has under their belt, including the Wells Fargo Center. So the performance of the Flyers is something he is very interested in.

Scott first joined the company back in 2013 as the President and COO. He has been with Comcast itself since 1993. Among other teams that calls the WFC home, the Flyers are a big interest to him.

And he likes where this have been trending this season. During a virtual press conference, Scott spoke about the state of the Flyers.

Expectations are high for this group of Flyers after the way they finished the season. They were among the best team’s in the league when the season was paused in mid-March. And with a four month layoff, it may be hard to immediately find that magic again.

This is a team that’s hasn’t been able to find true playoff success since their long run in 2010. Since then, they’ve found it hard to even make it into the playoffs let alone make it out of the first round.

But this group of Flyers has as good of a chance as any other team heading into the playoffs. The chemistry of this team has been great as the season went on. And just about all of the pieces that were put in place have worked.

And bringing in a highly valued coach such as Alain Vigneault has worked wonders for this group. He has been there multiple times, bringing two different teams in to Finals. He has yet to make it over that hump, however.

And even though they’ve had some adversity along the way, the team has used it to fuel them. Especially when it came to Oskar Lindblom and his diagnosis. The team rallied around him and the Flyers were recently able to come to terms on a new contract with him.

He’s even expected to join the team in Toronto. The final roster isn’t out just yet, but his name is likely to be on it. Even if he just practices with the team, he brings an energy and motivation to this group.

And while it may not quite be championship or bust this season, this group is expected to compete harder than they have been able to before. And Scott will be there for the ride.
