As it stands, the Philadelphia Flyers currently hold six more picks in the 2020 NHL Draft.
Despite some rumors the Flyers could potentially part with the 23rd overall pick, they indeed made their first-round selection on Friday night. They drafted forward Tyson Foerster from the Barrie Colts. There was a lot of offensive talent on the board when it was Philadelphia’s turn to draft and they took that all-important potential sniper.
Foerster took one of the biggest leaps in the draft with his breakout season in the OHL for the Barrie Colts. He was by far the leading scorer on his team and has what appears to be a lethal shot, something the Flyers have been looking for. While his skating has been somewhat of a weakness, he used the offseason to put hard work into his stride and changing the way he skates.
So as the second round is currently underway, the Flyers hold six more picks throughout the day. They do not have a third-round selection, though. With two picks in the seventh round, they could use that and another pick to potentially jump up if they see something that they like. It could be hard, though, without that third-rounder to use in negotiations.
But this is currently what the Flyers have if they don’t make any move to trade up or trade down.
Round 2: 54th Overall Round
Round 4: 116th Overall Round
Round 5: 147th Overall Round
Round Six:178th Overall Round
Round Seven: 202nd Overall Round
Round Seven: 209th Overall
The extra seventh-round pick came from the Montreal Canadiens during a trade in the 2019 NHL Draft. And the lack of a third-round pick was from the Justin Braun trade with the San Jose Sharks last offseason.
The Flyers are once again expected to look for the best player available when it comes to their second-round pick. And there are quite a few players that the team likes heading into this round.
