Claude Giroux, who has been with the Flyers organization since being drafted and the Captain of the team since 2013, has played 889 games in a Philadelphia uniform so far and is only eleven games away from reaching that exclusive 900 games played club.

As obviously predicted, Giroux is expected to join the list of players who have played 900 regular-season games in a Philadelphia jersey just eleven games into next season – assuming that he is in fact opening next season playing for the team.

He will be just the third player in Flyers franchise history to reach 900 games played in the regular season while a member of the team. Flyers legend Bobby Clarke was the first player in team history to play 900 games with 1,144 regular games played. Clarke played 1,280 games including the playoffs.

Bill Barber currently ranks second in regular-season games played with 903. Giroux could also pass Barber and move into second place all-time with him just needing fourteen more games played. It is expected Giroux sets this franchise record in the upcoming NHL regular season.

Another interesting feat Giroux is close to setting is 600 assists. Needing just 42 assists to reach the 600 mark, Giroux could also potentially set this record in the 2020-21 regular season.

With 558 current regular-season assists, Giroux needs 294 more assists to become the franchise leader in regular-season assists. While the Captain will not achieve this for quite some time, it does seem possible.

Some other franchise records that Giroux could set in the 2020-21 regular season include moving up to ninth on the all-time goals scored list, ranking third in team history with the most points, and becoming first in Power Play points.

It’ll be fun to watch Giroux knowing what accomplishments and history he could make in the upcoming season.
