Flyers: Could Alain Vigneault be on the hot seat?
By Matthew C
After completing his first season with the Philadelphia Flyers, is head coach Alain Vigneault on the hot seat and at risk of losing his job?
Alain Vigneault wrapped up his first season at the helm of the Flyers at the conclusion of the 2020 NHL playoffs that were played in a bubble located in Canada. Prior to being named as head coach for the team, Vigneault had coached for three other NHL teams including the New York Islanders.
The big question – is he on the hot seat?

The most obvious answer here is no. In his first season with the team, he led them to the playoffs and finished the shortened 2019-20 regular season with a 41-21-7 record.
Following the seasons, many fans were quick to praise the head coach and call the initial hiring of Vigneault amazing. It would be quite a shock if the team were to let go of Vigneault, but it’s quite technically impossible for him to be let go this offseason.
If you remember, the veteran head coach signed him to a long-term deal in 2019. He’s due to enter his second season as the head coach this upcoming season that could potentially start in January. Fans should expect Vigneault to lead the team to a winning record for a second consecutive season.
Broad Street Buzz ran a poll on our Twitter account earlier this week asking if fans approve of the head coach, and the results were pretty much straight-forward.
While there were a few fans who voted that they did not approve of the head coach, there really is no reason why. So far so good for the new Flyers head coach.
We’ll just have to wait and see what he can truly accomplish during his time in Philadelphia.
