Shayne Gostisbehere is a name that keeps popping up in trade rumors – but do the Flyers really want to trade away their defenseman and do other teams even have any interest in a trade?

The Flyers have been subject to tons of trade rumors recently, but there is one rumor in particular that stands out more than the others. Shayne Gostisbehere.

Reports have been floating around, in particular, one from The Athletic’s Charlie O’Connor, that the amount of other NHL teams that could potentially have interest in the 27-year-old defenseman are very slim to none.

Fans could almost expect that Gostisbehere will not be moved this offseason, and that’s a good sign. It would be a shame to see Gostisbehere shipped away to another team. However, despite it being very unlikely Gostisbehere will be traded this offseason, fans shouldn’t rule out a potential trade sometime else.

More from Rumors

Should the Flyers be looking to clear additional cap space, it would be quite logical that the team would trade Gostisbehere. Currently, he is the second-highest-paid defenseman on the roster right behind Ivan Provorov. It would make the most sense that the only way Gostisbehere would be playing elsewhere would be via a trade.

He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent following the conclusion of the 2022-23 NHL regular season.

The team potentially plans to play Gotisbehere more than usual following the sudden retirement of Matt Niskanen which leaves the defensemen line with a couple of holes to fill now.

Gostisbehere sure has had his struggles throughout his time in Philadelphia, but he needs to turn it around now more than ever if he wants his future to be with the guys in orange and not elsewhere if other teams are even interested in him down the line.

For now, not many teams are giving Philadelphia’s front office a call in regards to Shayne Gostisbehere.
