Flyer prospects Cam York and Bobby Brink were recently named to Team USA’s selection camp for World Juniors

On Sunday night, Flyers draft pick Cam York learned that he will be joining Team USA to participate in the 2020 World Junior Championship that is scheduled to take place in late December. York, who has been playing with the University of Michigan ice hockey team Michigan Wolverines, has been putting up some pretty decent numbers and quite frankly deserves a spot on the roster.

According to Bailey Johnson of AJC, Michigan’s head coach Mel Pearson announced the move on Sunday night

Bobby Brink, drafted during the second round in 2019, was also named to the USA squad.

A formal announcement of the roster was made on Monday afternoon. The championship is scheduled to take place in Canada from December 26th through January 5th, 2021. The championship will be held in two locations in Canada – in Edmonton and in Alberta.

More from Flyers News

The young 19-year-old York has one goal in six games played with Michigan this season, and this isn’t his first time he will be making an appearance on behalf of Team USA in the World Junior Championship. He previously played on Team USA in the championship last year, and in 2018.

In the championships, Cam York has scored four goals with all four goals coming from the 2018 World Junior Championship. He did not score a goal in the most recent championship, which began at the end of 2019 and continued to the beginning of 2020.

York is certainly a name that all Flyers fans should be excited about, and a name that the organization should be excited about. It’s no doubt that York will be an interesting player to watch play should he ever make the Flyers NHL roster. He is currently just 19 years old, so he has plenty of time to develop as a player and grow.

As for Brink, his NCAA season at the University of Denver as yet to begin. They will kick off against Minnesota Duluth on December 2nd. Brink won’t be with the team for very long, if at all.

He is entering his second collegiate season after being named to the All-Rookie team a season ago. Brink is coming off an 11 goal, 24 point season. That earned him a finalist spot as the NCHC Rookie of the Year. While he did not take home the award, he excelled in his first collegiate season.

As for international play, this would be the third time Brink has represented the USA if he makes the official squad. He has posted eight points in 10 WJC games.

Brink is another prospect that a lot of Flyers fans have their eyes on. He was expected to be one of the top players to watch in NCAA hockey. It might just be a bit of time before college fans see him there.

Having been named to the team previously, York and Brink have a solid chance of representing their country once again. We will certainly be rooting them on!
