Flyers: Defenseman Mason Millman inks entry-level contract

The Flyers have signed defenseman Mason Millman to an entry-level contract for 3-years, the team announced via social media on Friday.

In what has mostly been a quiet offseason for the Flyers, the team made some noise on Friday afternoon. Mason Millman, who was drafted by the team in 2019, agreed to a deal that would keep him in Philadelphia for the next three years.

Millman was drafted in the 4th round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, The 6-foot-1, 180-pound defenseman caught the attention of top Philadelphia front office honchos recently with his performance in the OHL. Currently, Millman plays in the OHL with the Saginaw Spirit.

His 13 goals scored and 44 points racked up ranked first among Saginaw’s defense in 2019.

Last season was just his second full season in the Ontario Hockey League. The signing of Millman marks the Flyer’s first 2019 draft pick to sign an entry-level contract.

Fans should be excited about this signing as this young 19-year-old defenseman has shown tons of promise with his performances in the Ontario Hockey League.

The Canada-native gained 44 points in just 58 regular-season games. That statistic sounds promising for the future of the defense.

When the signing was announced, fans on Twitter weren’t too sure about the signing. However, looking at his statistics, projected statistics, and the future, it appears the team could potentially be in good hands with Millman joining the defense in the upcoming season and beyond.

It’s for sure a good signing, and fans have nothing to worry about.
