Another familiar face at NBC Sports Philadelphia is out of a job as the Flyers broadcast team continues to undergo changes.

Colby Cohen is not returning to his position as the Flyers on-air analyst, the former hockey player-turned on-air personality announced on Twitter late Thursday night.

It is sad news as Cohen was widely praised for his witty on-air personality that radiated through viewers televisions, quick and comprehensive knowledge on the team, and it was clear that there was great chemistry between himself and whoever he was on-air with.

In his announcement, he went on to thank fans saying that the fans are what makes Philadelphia a great hockey season, while also hoping that Philadelphia will win their third Stanley Cup championship in franchise history.

The news of Cohen’s exit comes days after Katie Emmer announced her departure from the regional sports network, citing NBC Sports Philadelphia did not bring her back due to the ongoing pandemic. Flyers commentator Bill Clement announced his retirement on Thursday, hours before Cohen made his announcement on Twitter.

The 31-year-old Pennsylvania native clarified to Broad Street Buzz on Twitter that his departure comes after his respective contract was not renewed, not due to the fact he was laid off.

While it’s unknown what will be next for Cohen in terms of broadcasting, he did recently open a new outdoor rink located in New Jersey. The rink is reportedly open to the public for skating seven days a week, while also host to private sessions or small groups.

Can’t wait to see what Cohen has in store for us in the future.
