We now have the team of 23 players that will be taking the ice for the Flyers this season.

With the regular season set the begin tomorrow, teams had until later tonight to finalize their rosters. The Flyers made their announcement shortly after we found out all seven of their players cleared waivers.

There aren’t any surprises with the roster this season. The Flyers are expected to roll out the same forward and defensive pairs we saw in the intrasquad scrimmage.

Shayne Gostisbehere continues to be sidelined for unknown reasons. However, he is not on IR, leading to believe his ailment is not serious. He will not be starting the season tomorrow evening, though. Otherwise, all other players appear healthy and ready to go.

So let’s meet the Flyers 2020-21 roster and their taxi squad for this upcoming season.

21   –   Scott Laughton
23   –   Oskar Lindblom
25   –   James van Riemsdyk
28   –   Claude Giroux
48   –   Morgan Frost
62   –   Nicolas Aube-Kubel
86   –   Joel Farabee
93   –   Jakub Voracek

6   –   Travis Sanheim
8   –   Robert Hagg
9   –   Ivan Provorov
53   –   Shayne Gostisbehere
56   –   Erik Gustafsson
59   – Mark Friedman
61   – Justin Braun

Goaltenders

37 – Brian Elliott
79 – Carter Hart

After the main roster was announced, there were six players named to the Flyers’ taxi squad.

34 – Alex Lyon
10 – Andy Andreoff
55 – Samuel Morin
81 – Carsen Twarynski
82 – Connor Bunnaman
39 – Nate Prosser

A group of 14 players were then named to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for this season. Those names are as follows:

Chris Bigras
Pascal Laberge
Mason Millman
Roddy Ross
Felix Sandstrom
Zayde Wisdom
Linus Sandin
Tyson Foerster
Derrick Pouliot
Egor Zamula
Wyatte Wylie
Matthew Strome
Tyler Wotherspoon
Max Willman

And to round out the group, four players were listed as injured to start the season.

Wade Allison
Tanner Laczynski
Kirill Ustimenko
Isaac Ratcliffe

The biggest name to note is Frost. It was going to be tough for him to make the starting group with the return of Patrick. So Frost’s addition will be that of the 13th forward to begin the year.

It is interesting to see Zamula not make it onto the taxi squad. He was seemingly given opportunities to impress but will start in the AHL. Sandin, signed as a free agent, will also have to work his way up. The lack of preseason certainly hurt his chances to crack the roster.

Also of note are the captains for this season. Giroux returns as captain with Couturier as a permanent alternate and Provorov as the permanent home alternate captain. Hayes and Voracek will rotate as alternate captains on the road.

The Flyers will kick off their season tomorrow evening when they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
