On The Bench: Nate Prosser

On his second and final year of his deal Nate Prosser brings and rounds this Taxi Squad out with depth. The 34 year old will be a huge loss to that young Phantoms defensive core. Now he could be swapped out of the Taxi Squad with other veteran defensive piece in Tyler Wotherspoon who is also on his final year of his two year deal.

Prosser was paired with Mark Friedman on the last day of training camp and this could mean that at some point he could be on the third defensive pairing at some point during the season. 354 games in the NHL giving himself 10G, 37 A and to add to that a lot of experience. Prosser was a minus four with a total of 10 points (1G, 9 A) with the Phantoms.

Derek Pouliot does not earn a roster spot and will report to Lehigh Valley Phantoms to begin the season where the puck will drop on February 5th with AHL camp beginning in less then three weeks.

Other players I could see on the Taxi Squad this season: Derek Pouliot, Tyler Wotherspoon, Cal O’ Reilly.

Note: Alex Lyon was also added to the Flyers Taxi Squad as the third goaltender.

The Flyers kick off the season against the Pittsburgh Penguins at 5:30 on NBCSN tonight.
