The Flyers will look to avenge a shootout loss to the Bruins on Saturday at 7 PM from the TD Garden in Boston. The Flyers will need to focus on producing shots while limiting Boston’s offensive opportunities.

On the ice, we can expect the same from the Bruins as the other night, aggressiveness on the forecheck, hard-working challenges in the corners.  The Bruins experienced a goal bonanza last time out against the Flyers, as compared to the rest of their season.  The Bruins will be much more confident in their scoring than in the last meeting, which may be bad news for the Flyers.

The Flyers lost Mark Friedman to injury last game, but the defensemen appeared to have suffered only superficial damage and will be in the lineup today, keeping the defensive unit unchanged.  Coach Alain Vigneault, per Bill Meltzer, hinted at the possibility of a change to the forward combinations.  We will not know until after warmup what the coach has up his sleeve.

What to Watch For

Special teams played a large role in the first game with teams scoring 3 powerplay goals between them.  Both teams will be trying to cut down any man-advantage opportunities and it may diminish some of the edge normally seen in back-to-back games.

Philadelphia was badly out-chanced by the Bruins in the first game, but it was the mental mistakes that cost the team the victory.  Watch the Flyers try to clean up their game in their own end in regards to turnovers and unforced icings.

The Bruins have been very effective in offensive zone faceoff opportunities.  They have been able to use the faces-offs to extend time in the offensive zone, tire the Flyers’ players, and get excellent opportunities to score.  If the Bruins continue to dominate in these situations, it will spell trouble for the guys in orange.

Will Philadelphia be able to hold the lead?  The Flyers were able to establish a lead last game but were not able to close things out.  Look for the Flyers to keep the sustained intensity and avoid the lapses that cost them the lead.
