The Los Angeles Kings are looking for a young left handed defenseman. Travis Sanheim, Robert Hagg, Egor Zamula, Linus Hogberg and Mason Millman are just a few of the names. Even though they are in a rebuild mode, they are playing very well as of late.
There is a chance that the Flyers could make a push for Drew Doughty. Jeff Carter is a solid depth option as well. This would bring in two big veteran players who are able to make contributions. Carter currently has four goals, eight assists and 12 points in 20 games this season.
Carter would be an upgrade from Aube-Kubel, who has been very underwhelming and has had some trouble with his decision making either. He has two goals and three assists in 18 games, but he also has 21 penalty minutes. In this instance, Jeff Carter would be a fourth liner and help round out a nice line along with Raffl and Laughton. This would be one of the best fourth lines in the NHL.
Doughty has four goals and 11 assists in 18 games. The Kings haven’t been great giving up three goals a game, but they are also deploying a platoon of goalies between Quick and Petersen. Giving up an established left handed defenseman, a defensive prospect, maybe a forward and a 1st and two 2nd round picks could suffice in this trade. The Kings move on from their aging players and the Flyers get a top pairing defensemen for Provorov to play alongside.
