It seems as if there has been very little to be excited about when it comes to the Flyers based on recent performance from the team. Hopefully, that’ll change soon as every Flyers fan hopes. We decided to have a little fun and interact with other Flyers fans via social media so we asked Flyers fans on Twitter to share their unpopular opinions on the team.
It was definitely interesting to read through all of them, and if you ever find yourself bored and need something to do – read through the initial thread as it is pretty entertaining to see what everyone had to say.
Here are six random tweets that were selected from the thread in addition to some analysis.
phil myers is the best defenseman on the team

Well. Hopefully, Phil Myers will become the best defenseman on the team one day?
I know it's kind of silly now, but if you would have asked this five years ago I would've said "Simmonds should be wearing the C" 😅 Still my favorite Flyer ever though.

Wayne Simmonds is definitely a Flyer fan favorite and always will be. It’s great to see him still around in the league.
It would have definitely been interesting if the Flyers went with naming Wayne Simmonds the Captain of the team, that’s for sure. Claude Giroux is a veteran of the team, shows exceptional leadership skills on-and-off the ice, and is well-respected inside the locker room.
Wishful thinking!
Proverov. A little overrated?
— Groan Man (@GroanMan1) March 2, 2021
Don’t think so. When he was paired with Matt Niskanen before he abruptly retired from the league, he was playing pretty well. He just needs to find a good partner that he has good chemistry.
So far this season, Ivan Provorov has been pretty decent for the team this season but he has bad games – as most players do.
Braun, Gustafsson and Hägg should never be paired together in any combination ❤️

Amen. Is this an unpopular or popular opinion?
giroux and voracek have been holding the team back and we needed to move on from them years ago

This one definitely seems like an unpopular opinion. Wouldn’t say that Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek are holding back the team. They both provide value to the team and are both veterans.
