The Philadelphia Flyers have announced they’re promoting Cam York to the NHL roster and he will make his National Hockey League debut during Friday’s game against the first-place Capitals.
Prior to the announcement, Cam York was placed on the taxi squad which led to many speculating that his NHL debut is near and it turned out to become true.
York, 20, was drafted by Philadelphia 14th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Cam York was on fire while he was playing with the University of Michigan prior to signing his entry-level contract with the Flyers earlier this year.
He has appeared in 32 games at the Juniors all for the United States. In those 32 games, he scored six goals and racked up 22 assists totaling 28 points.
Every Flyers fan should be excited to see
York play for the Flyers for a limited amount of time – he has shown he has skill in his games played at the college level. In the season that quickly has turned into a disappointing disaster, at least Cam York gives us something to be excited for.
It’ll definitely be interesting to see how well he plays in his first game dressed as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers on their NHL roster.
It’s a great move for the Flyers and for Cam York. Philadelphia is down a defenseman for two games after Shayne Gostisbehere was suspended after boarding former teammate Mark Friedman in the third period of their game against Pittsburgh in Philadelphia.
Gostisbehere also forfeited a portion of his salary as a result of the suspension. The team clarified that Cam York is on the roster as an emergency recall, so he’ll see limited time in the big leagues at least this season.
The spotlight is on you Cam York! Show us what you got as a member of the Flyers!
