The Philadelphia Flyers will take on the New Jersey Devils in the final game of the 2020-21 regular season on Monday.
Prior to tonight’s faceoff, the Flyers will announce the recipients of their annual team awards. Captain Claude Giroux will likely receive the Bobby Clarke Trophy as the team’s MVP for the sixth time, a Flyers record.
The Flyers rode Giroux to a spirited comeback on April 25 and defeated the Devils in a shootout. However, they followed it up with three consecutive losses to their division rivals. New Jersey leads the season series 4-3.

Brian Elliott will start in goal tonight for what might be his last game in orange and black after four seasons. He played in his 500th career NHL game last week in Pittsburgh, and the Flyers will recognize his milestone at the Wells Fargo Center tonight.
Rookie winger Wade Allison scored two goals against the Washington Capitals on Friday night. His aggressive style in the opposition’s end has earned him a spot in the lineup in each of the final 14 games of the regular season.

The New Jersey Devils, like the Flyers, have suffered through a disappointing season affected by a COVID outbreak that drastically altered their schedule. They will finish seventh in the MassMutual East Division.
Goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood is 4-0-1 against the Flyers this season. He was a highly-touted second round pick in 2015 NHL Entry Draft. His performance has frequently been compared to that of Flyers goalie Carter Hart, a second round pick the following year.
