The Flyers will return to the Wells Fargo Center for another preseason matchup against the Boston Bruins. It will be their second game in four days during a stretch in which they will play four games in seven days to wrap up their exhibition schedule.

The two teams met four days ago where an NHL-heavy Bruins squad took down a mostly young Flyers group. This time, both teams will not have many of their star veterans in the lineup. Claude Giroux did not skate in either group and was later said to be having a maintenance day. He will not be available this evening. Justin Braun had a maintenance day as well and will not play.

Derick Brassard, who is fighting for a depth role, and Scott Laughton will also not be in the lineup for the Flyers. It’ll be Carter Hart’s net for this evening’s contest as he will he backed up by Samuel Ersson.

Elliot Desnoyers will make his preseason debut and is expected to be on a line with James van Riemsdyk and Nicolas Aube-Kubel. Desnoyers had a chance to skate with the Flyers’ veterans a few days ago and Alain Vigneault had a fair amount of praise for him after the skate. He also gave credit to his staff for taking notice as well.

”Every time he steps on the ice, he gets noticed. Extremely hard worker, very enthusiastic. Everything he does, he does hard. So we wanted to put him with all of the veteran players.”

There will be quite a few other players in the lineup looking to continue their quest for a roster spot. Connor Bunnaman and Jackson Cates are among the forwards who will try to fight for that 12th or 13th forward role. Adam Clendening enters the lineup as he looks towards the seventh defensive spot. Linus Hogberg, who returned from injury a few days ago, will re-enter the lineup as well.

The Flyers will not have to face the Bruins top forward line in Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. In fact, aside from Jeremy Swayman in net, there will hardly be any regulars in the Boston lineup. This will be the Bruins’ fifth exhibition game so not a big surprise they won’t be sending their big guns to Philadelphia.
