It has been a whirlwind the last few days for Zack MacEwen. He was placed on waivers by the Vancouver Canucks on October 12th. On October 13th, he found out he had been claimed by the Philadelphia Flyers. But it took a few days before he eventually made it to the city.

Coming from Canada, MacEwen needed to get a U.S. visa in order to report to Philadelphia. He was given non-roster status and was in limbo as he waited for the league to approve his visa. October 19th is when MacEwen finally made it to Philadelphia and was able to step on the ice with his new teammates.

"“It’s just nice to be here finally. Had some visa issues there, kind of held me up in Vancouver. But, you know, getting here now and meeting everybody and getting on the ice. And seeing the facility here now, I’m already super pumped to be here.”"

MacEwen will likely be in the lineup when the Flyers take on the Boston Bruins. Max Willman was loaned back to the Phantoms, opening up a spot on the fourth line. Patrick Brown is still in the league’s COVID protocol so he will be unavailable for the time being. MacEwen wasn’t able to be in the lineup against his former team on opening night, something he would’ve enjoyed having the opportunity to do.

He is in Philadelphia now and will have a chance to make his debut with the Flyers. While he waited for his visa issues to be sorted out, it was all about staying prepared and ready for whenever his opportunity would come. When it comes to what he tries to do on the ice, it is all about bringing a hardworking and physical style.

MacEwen is a player who should fit in well based on what this Flyers team has shown over their first two games. They have shown a comradery and a willingness to stand up for each other. It’s something that MacEwen agreed brings a team together during the season.

"“I think early on in the season it brings a lot of comradery between the guys. You get that bond between teammates. You see that kind of heart and soul go into sticking up for your teammates. Being one as a group, I think it’s really good for chemistry. I’ve been here one day but I can already see it. I can see the type of group this is. I couldn’t be more excited to step into it.”"

MacEwen joked that he would absolutely fit into this team’s style after seeing them stick up for each other numerous times against the Seattle Kraken. And going up against a team like Boston in his first game, it should be a solid test to see what he’ll be able to add to the Flyers roster.
