The Flyers heading to Sunrise for the second half of their Florida road trip. A Panthers team that has won 10 straight games at FLA Live Arena continued their home dominance. Despite an outstanding performance from Martin Jones, Philadelphia dropped this one 2-1 in overtime.

The Good:

YOUNG BEEZER: Things have cooled off considerably for Joel Farabee as of late. He had no points in his last five games prior and only one point in his last 14. He got the Flyers on the board in the first period with a breakaway goal. After a breakout season, it has been anything but that this time around. For a team that has had a lot of trouble scoring, Philadelphia needs one of its young stars to pick things up.

FROST WARNING: Morgan Frost made his debut as he was called up under emergency conditions. Derick Brassard was injured against Tampa and unable to go tonight. While Frost didn’t do anything spectacular, he also didn’t look out of place. He was credited with a shot and had three hits. He also had a would-be breakaway taken away on an offsides call. Depending on the Flyers injury situation coming up, there was nothing Frost did to say he should go back down.

JONESING FOR A WIN: Martin Jones played probably his best game of the year. His 43 saves were the second most of his career as he kept the Flyers in it and was the largest reason they even ended up with a point in this one. He’s had a resurgence since signing with Philadelphia this off-season. The Flyers goaltending altogether is a big reason they are not further down in the standings.

The Bad:

POWER-LESS PLAY: The power play has not been able to get anything going for most of the season and that continued tonight. The Flyers went 0-2 on the man advantage and while they spent time in the zone, they would not generate much. While Alain Vigneault has said that he has the final call when it comes to the unit, eyes need to be on Michel Therrian as well. The offense continues to dry up and the power play has been a big part of that.

OFFENSIVE INEPTITUDE: Coming into this game, the Flyers had averaged 1.67 goals-per-game in their last 12 contests. And once again, they scored just a single goal. Now the Panthers are one of the best teams in the league and seemed to have answers for a lot of what the Flyers tried to do. And Sergei Bobrovsky had 32 saves as well. But they need to find a way. Your goaltenders cannot continue to bail you out night after night.

As has been said multiple times, the road does not get any easier moving forward. After a day off on Thursday, it is back home to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. The Flyers handed them their first home loss the last time these two met.
