The Flyers hosted the Anaheim Ducks in their 5-3 loss on Saturday night after traveling home to Philadelphia from their 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In what turned out to be an emotional roller coaster of a game that was full of lead changes and quick, unanswered goals, Philadelphia had originally kicked the game off with unrelenting offensive pressure that earned them an early lead in the first period. Despite the 2-0 lead heading into the second period, the Flyers played the remaining 40 minutes of the game like a completely different team that gave up three unanswered goals and then proceeded to be outscored 2-1 in the third period of the game.

A constant flaw within the Philadelphia Flyers organization during the 2021-22 season has been their inability to maintain pressure in the attacking zone. In tonight’s case, they only competed for about 25 minutes in a 60-minute hockey game. Sure, some of that stems from trading Claude Giroux and losing Sean Couturier for the season, but this Flyers team is out-coached and outplayed on almost a nightly basis. Mike Yeo has failed to come up with an answer and it happened again Saturday night vs the Anaheim Ducks.
