The Philadelphia Flyers had some holiday hockey to play on Easter Sunday in Philadelphia as they took on the Buffalo Sabres in what would be their last game against each other this season. The Sabres went into Sunday 3-0 against the Flyers this year, with their most recent win coming the previous night.
Buffalo earned the season series sweep with a hard-fought 5-3 win in Philadelphia that the Sabres seemed to dominate from the first puck-drop.
While the Sabres were a perfect 2-2 on the power play on Sunday, the Flyers continued their special teams woes by failing to score on both of the power play opportunities they were given, which proved crucial to the game’s outcome. Philadelphia also had a difficult time gaining momentum in the attacking zone, as Buffalo did a great job at stopping the Flyers from skating through the neutral zone and setting up their offense.
There was a more noticeable effort by the home team toward the end of the third period, but it proved to be too little too late in the game.
