In the third and final meeting between these two teams, the Montreal Canadiens will host the Philadelphia Flyers. In a season that surely both organizations are glad is nearing its end, the Canadiens and Flyers are in the bottom three of the league’s standings and are essentially playing these remaining games for better draft lottery positioning, They also could use the time to try new things and attempt to work out some kinks in preparation for next season.

With a load of injuries still in Philadelphia’s lineup for Mike Yeo to deal with, the Flyers have recalled puck-moving defenseman Linus Högberg on emergency conditions from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He will make his NHL debut in Thursday’s matchup with Montreal at the age of 24.

Philadelphia Flyers

Record: 23-43-11 (57 pts, 8th in Metro)

Currently on a six-game losing streak, the Philadelphia Flyers are in danger of being swept in a season series by yet another team. They have been swept recently by the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres.

After losing their first matchup against the Canadiens in a shootout, and their second in overtime due to rookie Cole Caufield’s game-winning goal, the Flyers hope to break their losing streak and avoid the season sweep from a struggling Canadiens team.

It is worth noting, however, that with only four games remaining in the regular season after Thursday’s matchup with Montreal, the Flyers have a high chance of clinching the No. 1 draft pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft if they continue to drop points, especially to teams who are just behind them in the standings like Montreal.

Projected Lineup

Laughton – Hayes – Konecny

van Riemsdyk – Farabee – Brink

Cates – Frost – Tippett

Lindblom – Thompson – MacEwen

Provorov – Attard

Högberg – Sanheim

Yandle – Zamula

Montreal Canadiens

Record: 20-46-11 (51 pts, 8th in Atlantic)

The Montreal Canadiens also find themselves hoping to break free of a six-game losing streak with Thursday night’s matchup against the Flyers, in which they will certainly be giving it all they’ve got to clinch the season series sweep against Philadelphia.

The Canadiens, despite their season struggles, have maintained a perfect 2-0-0 record against Philadelphia this year by stopping the Flyers from protecting their early leads and coming back late in the game to secure a win. Montreal is full of young talent, especially rookie Cole Caufield, that has been improving greatly ever since the Habs hired Martin St. Louis as their new head coach.

Projected Lineup

Caufield – Suzuki – Anderson

Hoffman – Dvorak – Gallagher

Pitlick- Poehling – Evans

Perreault – Dauphin – Pitlick

Romanov – Savard

Edmundson – Petry

Clague – Wideman
