The Flyers have just about wrapped things up before training camp as they signed two of their three remaining restricted free agents to new deals. Wade Allison was their biggest name left as he inked a two-year, two-way/one-way deal worth $785K. So his salary in the first year will be different between the NHL and AHL. It will be the same in the second year.

Allison made his NHL debut during the 2020-21 season where he appeared in 14 games. He posted four goals and seven points overall in an impressive end of season stint. Injuries derailed his chances of making an impact this season as he was limited to a single NHL game. He ended up playing well for the Phantoms in the NHL, posting 10 goals and 17 points in 28 games. While he may not make the Flyers out of training camp, he is someone we should expect to see at some point barring any other injury trouble.

The Flyers will also be bringing back Linus Hogberg on a one-year, two way deal worth $750K. Hogberg made his NHL debut last season and did manage two points in five games. But he is not someone that is expected to be on the NHL roster. He should have a fairly large role on the Phantoms this upcoming season.

Hogberg made the transition to the professional level at the end of the 2020-21 season after spending his entire playing career in Sweden. He could be a depth option if injuries pile up once again, but expect him to play almost all of the upcoming season in the AHL.

After the signings of Allison and Hogberg, Hayden Hodgson remains as the only restricted free agent without a contract. Hodgson impressed during his stint in the NHL, registering a goal and three points in six games. It’s possible the team could bring him back for more depth, but there are quite a few players ahead of him on the depth chart already.

With training camp set to begin on September 21st, the Flyers are going to have quite a few battles for roster spots on their hands. Until them, it looks like they’ve officially made all of their signings for the upcoming year.
