Another hockey season is upon as the Flyers will hit the ice for their first preseason game of the year. So we can put everything from the past behind us and a lot of players in the lineup tonight will be looking to make an impression.

We won’t see a lot of the veteran players in the lineup as the Flyers get a look at some youth who could in the NHL this season. As John Tortorella said, he is going to play the kids this year. It’s the closest we’ve gotten to hearing that this may be a rebuilding season. Typically that’s when you see what you have in the pipeline and which players could be a part of your future.

That is your players like Wade Allison and Tanner Laczynski who are looking to prove to the Flyers that they are ready to put injuries behind them. Someone like Morgan Frost is ready for a full time spot and to show he can truly make an impact on the ice.

Ronnie Attard wants to show that he learned a lot from his brief stint with the Flyers last season. And Egor Zamula is ready to show the team that he’s put on the weight necessary to make it through the grind of a season. And Felix Sandstrom will be trying to earn the backup role behind Carter Hart this year.

So there will be plenty to watch tonight when they take on the Boston Bruins. Ian Laperriere will be behind the bench tonight, along with the rest of the AHL coaching staff. The lineup was also made by Chuck Fletcher, Brent Flahr and the scouts to identify which players they want to see.

Projected Lineup

Olle Lycksell – Morgan Frost – Owen Tippett

Antoine Roussel – Tanner Laczynski – Wade Allison

Noah Cates – Jackson Cates -Tyson Foerster

Max Willman – Artem Anisimov – Hayden Hodgson

Cam York – Ronnie Attard

Egor Zamula – Nick Seeler

Kevin Connauton – Louie Belpedio

Felix Sandstrom (will play first half)

Troy Grosenick (will play second half)

For Boston, they’ll be performing for a new head coach as well. Jim Montgomery. He is coming off his tenure with the St. Louis Blues as an assistant coach to Craig Berube. Montgomery previously coached the Dallas Stars before he was forced to step away from the game for personal reasons.

But back behind the bench, he’ll be looking to help out a talented Bruins roster that hasn’t been able to get over the hump recently. They have the skill to get it done, but they just need that extra push that Montgomery looks to bring.

While Boston only released their full game roster for the evening, this is what they looked like in morning skate so this gives us a good idea at what they’ll look like tonight.
