Tyson Foerster, Ronnie Attard to Represent Phantoms at AHL All-Star Game
As the NHL All Star weekend comes to an end, the AHL will begin its own. The Laval Rocket will be the hosts for the AHL All Star Classic. And the Flyers AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, will have two representatives.
Tyson Foerster was named to the Atlantic Division when the rosters were first announced. Teammate Ronnie Attard was a late addition to the squad, replacing Bridgeport Islanders defenseman Samuel Bolduc. Cam York was originally announced as making the roster but is deemed ineligible as he is currently on the Flyers roster.
The event begins on Sunday evening as the AHL All-Stars take to the ice for the Rona AHL All-Star Skills Competition. Similar to the NHL, the AHL will pit the four divisions (Atlantic, North, Central, and Pacific) against each other in seven different events.
Those events are as follows and a detailed list of each event can be found on Laval’s website.
- Inglasco Puck Control Relay
- CCM Fastest Skater
- AHL TV Rapid Fire
- Rona Accuracy Shooting
- Rona Pass & Score
- Upper Deck Breakaway Relay
- CCM Hardest Shot
- CCM Top Goaltender Competition
They will then compete in the Mise-o-jeu AHL All-Star Challenge on Monday evening. In the same fashion as the NHL, teams will play a round robin game to establish a ranking. The top two teams will then play to determine a winner. Each game is 3-on-3 and will be 10 minutes long.
Foerster, in his first full season with the Phantoms, leads the team with 17 goals. He is second on the team with 30 points. Foerster has four goals in his last five games.
Attard, is his first season with Lehigh Valley, leads all Phantoms defensemen in goals (7) and points (19). He currently has five points in his last six games.
Both events will be available to watch on the NHL Network. The AHL will also be streaming it for free on AHL TV. All fans need to do is sign up for an account in order to watch.
The Flyers were represented by Kevin Hayes during the NHL All-Star Game and they will now have two key pieces of their future showing off their skills in the AHL.
