It’s a rematch of Wednesday night as this time the Philadelphia Flyers travel to the KeyBank Center to take on the Buffalo Sabres. The Flyers are in the midst of a three-game losing streak while the Sabres have won two in a row.

The Flyers largely dominated the Sabres on Wednesday, outshooting them 40-15. But losing Carter Hart midway through the first period and a third period collapse saw Buffalo easily skate away with the 5-2 win.

Philadelphia Flyers

With Hart out for an undetermined amount of time, Cal Petersen was the goaltender recalled from the Phantoms. The Flyers could’ve pulled Felix Sandstrom from his conditioning stint, but they may want him to get more games in before doing that. So it’ll be Sam Ersson running the show for right now and the hope will be that he can regain his typical steady goaltending.

The Flyers also have other injury news to worry about. Sean Couturier is now day to day with a lower body injury. The good news is that it doesn’t appear to be anything related to his back since that would likely be upper body. Couturier, while he may not have been fully back to his pre-surgery self, had been playing well. There is no word on exactly what his ailment is at the moment.

Buffalo Sabres

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has been sharp in net for the Sabres as of late, stopping 61 of 63 shots in his last two games. One of which was a 4-0 shutout of the previously undefeated Colorado Avalanche. He’s taken over the net after Eric Comrie and Devon Levi have had injury issues. The former was recently placed on injured reserve.

Lukas Rousek, called up from AHL Rochester, will be making his season debut. He had two goals and six points in eight games for the Amerks thus far. He was given the opportunity courtesy of Zach Benson also being placed on IR. Brandon Biro is another young player that has gotten run recently. He scored his first two career NHL goals against the Flyers.
