Flyers vs Kings, Game 12: Notes, Lineups, and How to Watch
After a dominating win over the Sabres, the Philadelphia Flyers are back at home for a quick matchup against the Los Angeles Kings. It’ll be off to California after that for a four game road trip that will actually end in Carolina.
In the two-game series last year, the away team took home a victory in each game by almost identical scores. A Noah Cates shorthanded goal led the Flyers to a 4-2 victory back on Dec. 31 in Los Angeles. A little less than a month later, Samuel Fagemo tied in the game with less than 90 seconds to go. Kevin Fiala would give the Kings the 4-3 win in Philadelphia in overtime.
Philadelphia Flyers
Revenge game anyone? Cal Petersen and Sean Walker will be taking on the team that traded them this past offseason. It’s also the first time in their careers that they will both face their former team. Petersen was drafted by the Sabres in 2013, however he never played for them. Walker, undrafted, was signed by Los Angeles in 2018 after playing on an AHL deal with the Ontario Reign.
So we’re looking at a Petersen shutout and a Walker hat trick, right? Okay, that’s expecting too much. But both players will likely be fired up to take on their former team. Walker has quietly been a steady defensemen for the Flyers and also had two shorthanded goals. Petersen will be making his season debut. He’ll be facing a Kings team that has not lost on the road so far this season, a perfect 5-0-0.

Los Angeles Kings
The Kings are off to a strong start on the season. They’ve won two in a row and have points in eight of their 10 games played. While they are far off of the Pacific-leading Golden Knights, there’s a lot to be happy about in Los Angeles right now.
Fiala, now in his second season with the Kings, has 12 points to start the year. 11 of those have come as an assist so he’s been a playmaker for this team. Anze Kopitar and Trevor Moore share the team lead with five goals apiece. Drew Doughty has continued to log big-time minutes on the back end, averaging 26:15 of ice time while chipping in four goals and six overall points.
A well traveled goaltender, Cam Talbot is playing with his seventh different organization. He’s off to a good start with the Kings, posting a 2.41 GAA and a .915 SV%. He’s played in eight of the Kings 10 games.
