The Flyers' first nine games to start the season all resulted in losses. In just nine games, the Flyers scored 11 goals, while their opponents scored 33 goals against them. Some of the games were close, forcing the Flyers to go into overtime in three separate games. Each time, the opposing team got the best of Philadelphia.
The Flyers did finally find themselves on the right side of the scoreboard for their first win in their 10th game, but they are still lacking offense that will make a difference. Philadelphia needs to step up their production and score more goals if they want to win games. Here are three players who have the potential to be the difference-makers in the Flyers' offensive production.
Travis Konecny
Travis Konecny has led the team in points in five straight seasons. He also recorded the most points in the 2019-20 season. In the 2023-24 season, it was only Konecny who had his name on all three leaderboard categories: goals, assists, and points.
It is clear Konecny has been a proven points producer for Philadelphia over several seasons. He has been known to produce, and he has the potential to step up for his team again. In just five games with the team, Konecny has only recorded eight shots. As the season progresses, he'll need to step up his point production to try to help his team get some wins. That is, once he returns from the injured list.
Matvei Michkov
Konecny might have the most points of any player on the Flyers in the past five seasons, but the current points leader is Matvei Michkov. He currently has four goals in the Flyers' first 10 games of the season.
This marks Michkov's third season in the NHL. In his first two seasons, he recorded 63 points and 51 points, respectively. Already, Michkov has four goals off 12 shots, averaging at least one shot per game thus far. If the Flyers want to step up their game, they should give Michkov more minutes and help him find scoring chances.
Trevor Zegras
This season is Zegras' second with the Flyers, after he was traded to Philadelphia ahead of the 2025 NHL Draft. In his first season with the Flyers, Zegras had his best performance to date in the NHL, recording 67 points with 26 goals and 41 assists. 26 goals is also the most he has recorded in a single NHL season.
Just like Konecny and Michkov, Zegras has a history of producing offensively. His shots on goal are also limited, with 17 in his first 10 games with Philadelphia. Zegras needs to find his stride once more to help Philadelphia.
