The Philadelphia Flyers gave fans a lot to be proud of this season. They surpassed many fans' and media personalities' expectations, making the playoffs as the third place team in the Metropolitan Division and eliminated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round. The vibes were incredibly high for the Flyers, but their season officially ended at the hands of a four-game sweep against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Even though the team was eliminated on home ice, Flyers fans gave them a standing ovation as the players and coaches shook hands with the Hurricanes. It has stood out for a variety of members of the Flyers.

While speaking with reporters on Thursday, Briere mentioned the ovation from Flyers fans after Game 4 and said that players noticed when he spoke with them during their exit interviews.

Danny Briere says Flyers players took notice of fans' ovation after Game 4

"We always ask a lot of our fans and we ask them to invest in the team and spend money and time to come and see us. What they did last game was truly, truly amazing," said Briere. "I wanted them to know that...our players took notice of that. I probably had seven or eight guys in my exit meetings that specifically mentioned how the fans reacted at the end of the game, and they said, the comment that kept coming back was that they knew how special it was to play in the playoffs in Philadelphia. They didn't realize how special it was. The fans really made it that extra special and I wanted our fans to know that what they did, our players noticed."

This will undoubtedly have Flyers fans pumped up. The players being that inspired by the standing ovation after a playoff elimination is only going to motivate them.

Flyers fans have waited a long time for the team to reach the playoffs again. The last time they did so was in 2020, but that was in the Toronto bubble during the COVID-19 pandemic. But the last time Flyers fans watched playoff games in person was in 2018. And, the last time they won a playoff series at home was in 2012, where they defeated the Penguins in the opening round.

This year, the Flyers gave the team plenty of memories. There was their late push into a playoff spot after the Olympic break. They watched young players like Porter Martone and Alex Bump shine late in the year. Their offseason acquisitions in forward Trevor Zegras and goalie Dan Vladar were difference makers. Perhaps their biggest moment was Cam York's overtime winning goal in Game 6 against the Penguins to secure their first round series win.

There is plenty for the Flyers to build off of this season. The future looks bright with the current structure of the roster. they have playoff experience now to help them in future trips. The success will drive the players, but the positive fan reaction is sticking with them. That should only motivate them further.
