The NHL is releasing its Quarter-Century Team, and we cannot help but wonder why no Flyers have been named to the team. In the list of fan-voted players who debuted after 2010, is there room for any Philadelphia Flyers?
The 2010s list included Leon Draisaitl, Johnny Gaudreau, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Auston Matthews, and Connor McDavid.
Sigh.
Travis Konecny
Konecny is a fun player to watch. He embodies everything we love about the Flyers. Fans will get to watch him for a long time, too, as he is signed through 2032-33. He made the NHL All-Star team twice and played for Team Canada.
However, he's not a point-per-game player. He's never scored 40 goals or won a major award. In 22 playoff games, he had one goal and seven assists.
Mind you, none of this is meant to reflect poorly on Konecny. He's a great player and will be a big part of this team during the coming phases of the rebuild and becoming a Cup competitor.
Looking ahead

Matvei Michkov
Assuming there is an NHL Mid-Century team, we can speculate that Michkov will be named to it. He is incredibly talented, has eyes behind his head, and his hockey IQ is through the roof.
Michkov will be as a cornerstone for the Philadelphia Flyers' future.
Selected seventh overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, he made an immediate impact in the 2024–25 season, leading all NHL rookies with 26 goals and adding 37 assists for a total of 63 points.
Michkov's adaptability and commitment to team success have been evident. He quickly adjusted to the North American game, which is no small feat. He became a reliable contributor in various situations and is about as fun to watch as any Flyer has been in recent memory.
