The Flyers will finish off their New York back-to-back by facing the Islanders for the second time in just over a week.
The two teams will meet again less than a week after Friday night's matchup before finishing up the season series toward the end of the season. Philadelphia won the first game, scoring three straight goals in the second period in a 5-3 victory. Travis Konecny had three assists while Sean Couturier posted a goal and an assist.
Philadelphia hasn't had much luck in the second game of a back-to-back, posting a 1-6-1 record in the latter game. The Islanders have had three days off heading into this game.
Philadelphia Flyers
While the 6-1 score looks as if the Rangers ran over the Flyers in the last game, John Tortorella showered plenty of praise onto the opponent and his team. Igor Shesterkin, who was coming off consecutive shutouts, was just as strong despite allowing a goal 1:25 in. The loss broke the Flyers' six-game point streak.
The trio of Anthony Richard, Rodrigo Abols, and Garnet Hathaway was easily the best line against the Rangers. They were the only line to not allow a goal, outchancing the Rangers 14-4. While it didn't end with any goals, having the fourth line contribute that way can help lead to offense from other places. Getting that play from someone like Abols is even more important as this was just his second career NHL game. He's handled himself well so far.
Now as the official backup, Ivan Fedotov has another opportunity to prove the Flyers made the right decision. They finally pulled the trigger on their three-goaltender experience, sending Aleksei Kolosov to the AHL. Fedotov has not won a game since not playing for over a month, but he has helped the team get to overtime in two of his three games.

New York Islanders
The Islanders have won two straight since their loss to the Flyers. The first was a rather easy 4-1 win over the Sharks as the Islanders pulled away with three unanswered goals in the final two periods. They did the same thing against a hot Columbus team a few days later. Trailing 1-0 in the second, the Islanders scored two unanswered, including a shorthanded goal, to take a 3-1 victory.
Nothing has changed in terms of who is leading the Islanders this season. Anders Lee is now up to 20 goals and 36 points, both leading the team. It's his fourth straight campaign with 20 goals. Bo Horvat is right behind him with 35 points and sits at 16 goals, coming off a two-goal outing against Columbus.
The Flyers will face Ilya Sorokin for the second time. He was in the net for the win against the Blue Jackets. Sorkin has wins in three of his last five games. He's continued to lead the way for the Islanders as this will be his 33rd game and the team's 46th of the season. Sorokin has a 2.81 GAA and a .902 SV%.
