The Flyers have played a lot of hockey over their last three games. They will look to avoid yet another shootout as they travel north of the border to meet the Ottawa Senators.

While the Senators came up with a big shutout victory in their last game, they have lost three of their first five games this month. Philadelphia is in the same boat, though they have points in three straight as well. They're coming off a shootout win over the Sharks.

These two teams will not meet again after this game until Mar. 11.

Philadelphia Flyers

Please no more overtime for a little while. The Flyers have played three straight games in which overtime, and a shootout, were needed. They have won two of those games, one to Tampa and the recent win over the Sharks. But with that, someone like Travis Sanheim has played over 30 minutes in back-to-back games. Sanheim did not skate at practice yesterday, a much-deserved rest. It's early in the season, but the ice time adds up.

Speaking of ice time, Emil Andrae has earned more during his stint with the Flyers. Elevated to the top pairing with Sanheim, Andrae played a career-high 25:40 against the Sharks. He has looked much better in this go around in the NHL. It's clear he took last season's struggles and worked on them throughout the season in the AHL. It's going to be extremely hard to send him back down once everyone is healthy.

The Flyers can kick the can down the road a bit with Jamie Drysdale on injured reserve. They can also hold off on a goaltending decision as well. Sam Ersson had a minor setback with his groin injury and won't be available to the Flyers tonight. Ivan Fedotov will look to build off his tremendous effort against Tampa. And Aleksei Kolosov will suit up for the first time since Nov. 5.

Ottawa Senators

It's early in the season, but the Senators are hanging around in the Atlantic Division. They are sitting in fourth, only three points out of a top-three spot. They are 5-2-0 at the Canadian Tire Centre. They've only lost once at home in their last four games, outscoring teams 16-9 in that span. So beating them in their rink isn't going to be an easy task for the Flyers.

The Senators have gotten offense from a few different spots early on. Tim Stutzle leads the team with 20 points while Brady Tkachuk has the lead with eight goals. 15 different players have scored at least one goal this season. Five players have double-digit points and two are on the cusp of that number. Old friend Claude Giroux has struggled lately, registering just one point in his last six games. He had 11 points in seven games before that. Giroux does have nine points in six career games against Philadelphia.

Linus Ullmark has fared rather well in his first season with the Senators. He has two straight wins, including one over his former Bruins. Ullmark has a 2.51 GAA and a .904 SV%. He last allowed a goal at 5:06 of the second period two games ago, working on a nearly 75-minute shutout streak.
