Laughton stole the show the last time these two faced. Does he have a repeat performance planned?

After a few days off, the Flyers will travel to Detroit to battle with the Red Wings for the second time in less than a week.

It was quite the game for Scott Laughton. He scored all four goals for Philadelphia in the victory, becoming the first player in the franchise to account for every goal scored. Can he have a repeat performance?

Philadelphia Flyers

While Laughton's outing less than a week ago was one of his best games, it's not his only success against the Wings. In 20 career games, Laughton has 13 goals and 19 points when facing Detroit. When facing the Red Wings, the veteran forward is more likely to register a point than he isn't. After going pointless in his first five career games against said team, Laughton has at least one point in 12 of the last 15 games. That included a 10-game point streak from 2019-23. Some players love to face a certain team.

The Flyers will have a chance to get their power play clicking as Detroit comes in with the 31st-ranked penalty kill at 67.5%. Philadelphia has just one power-play goal in their last four games, having gone 1/9. It's a far cry from the early-season success they had.

With the Flyers scheduled to face the Los Angeles Kings tomorrow night, the goaltending duties will be split between Sam Ersson and Aleksei Kolosov. Ersson will handle things against Detroit with Kolosov likely to tend the net against the Kings. Ersson has only faced the Wings twice in his career, earning a shutout in one of those games.

Detroit Red Wings

Not much has changed for Detroit since the Flyers last saw them. They too had three days of rest coming into this game so both teams should have fresh legs. Thanks to Jeff Petry's first goal of the season, the Wings were able to edge the Maple Leafs in their last outing. The two sides traded the first five goals of the game before Raymond's empty netter.

Scoring has continued from Raymond, who now leads the team with 31 points. His latest goal puts him in a three-way tie with Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat for a team-leading 12 goals. Larkin is still amid a goal-less drought, now up to nine games. He does have four assists in his last four games. Those three remain the only Wings with double-digit goals.

Alex Lyon will make his return from injury to take on his former team. He had missed the last nine games with a lower-body injury. Lyon earned a shutout against the Flyers the last time he was in the net against them. On the season, he has a 2.74 GAA and a .911 SV%. Lyon had won two straight, giving up only three goals before suffering the injury.
