The Philadelphia Flyers have kicked off November of the 2026-27 National Hockey League (NHL) season in the best way, with a win. They took down the Utah Mammoth on Sunday, Nov. 1, with a 6-3 win. The Flyers will look to continue that success as they host the Minnesota Wild tonight.
Flyers storylines
Each of the 32 teams announced their Hometown Remix jersey on Nov. 2. Several teams debuted theirs last night, including the Florida Panthers, the San Jose Sharks, and the Chicago Blackhawks. Against the Wild, the Flyers will make their debut in the new threads.
Unfortunately for the Flyers, the team missed the mark with their design. The Flyers had dropped some teasers throughout the week leading up to the announcement, almost hinting at the Liberty Bell being front and center on the jersey. Instead, the Flyers debuted a lacklustre grey kit with the main Flyers logo in the center.
The Flyers had the potential to drop their greatest jersey of all time, and they blew it. Hopefully, the jersey looks better in action than it does as just a stock photo. For now, it's not doing a whole lot to blow fans away.
As the Flyers host the Wild, they see the return of Bobby Brink. At the trade deadline last season, Brink was traded to Minnesota in exchange for David Jiricek. He began his NHL career with Philadelphia, playing in 201 games and recording 94 points. This return will be a bittersweet moment for both Brink and for Flyers fans.
Head coach Rick Tocchet confirmed goaltender Dan Vladar will start in net tonight. He helped the Flyers secure their win over Utah on Sunday. After a poor start to the season, he has looked much better in goal. In his last five games, he has helped Philly get three wins, and the two losses were both in overtime, securing a point in each game. Joseph Woll has been good for the Flyers as well, but now that Vladar has shaken the rust off, it is his time to shine.
